Natural herbal treatments for ADHD sufferers

If parents find it difficult to handle the normal active toddlers, how much harder could it be for parents with children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)? There are no specific cures for this illness, but physicians often prescribe medications to somehow lessen the symptoms of ADHD.

Recent studies show that there are several herbs that have the same effects as ADHD drugs, such as ginseng, gingko biloba, and valerian. Although more studies are required to support their claims, this is already great news for parents and children alike.

According to studies, American ginseng may slightly help children suffering from ADHD since they help promote relaxation and fight stress and anxiety. They are found to be more effective when combines with gingko biloba. Valerian can also enhance the ADHD patient’s power to concentrate and focus his attention on something. Other herbs found to be effective for alleviation of ADHD symptoms include chamomile, gotu kola, primrose oil, and lemon balm.
