Chickweed to Heal Wounds in Speed

Chickweed is an herb that is native to Europe. Some varieties of chickweed grow in North America. The botanical name of chickweed is Stellaria Media. The entire plant that grows above the ground is used for medicinal purposes. It is made into teas and green drinks for internal healing and into poultices, salves and ointments for external and topical applications.
Chickweed has well known contact healing properties. This means that chickweed reduces pain and heals immediately when applied topically. Topical applications of chickweed reduce pain and swelling immediately on topical application to the skin. They are also used to cure acne. Chickweed has large quantities of Vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and calcium. It is therefore an effective health supplement. Chickweed is used internally to detoxify the blood. It also assists in weight loss because it is an effective appetite suppressant. Pregnant and lactating women are advised against the internal intake of chickweed supplements.
