Home Remedies to treat minor burns

A minor or first degree burn is the kind of injury which affects only the first layer of the skin. Though it is extremely painful, it heals itself within 3-4 days. The following home remedies, however, can help in making the healing process faster and less painful-

  • • Wash the burnt part of the body with water. Remember not to rub ice on the burns as it may cause painful blisters.
  • • Apply yoghurt on the burn and leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
  • • Honey is known for its natural healing properties and is especially beneficial for healing burns. Applying a coat of honey on the affected area can help in healing the burns faster.
  • • Soaking the burnt part in cold milk can also help alleviating the pain associated with your injury.

These home remedies are effective for first degree burns. In case of severe burns however, one should get medical help as soon as possible.
