Home remedies for body odor

Body odor can kill your confidence and can be disastrous for your social life. The causes for body odor are generally excessive sweating, poor hygiene, illness and/or strong medicines. Though deodorants and anti-per spirants can be used to camouflage body odor, but they do not promise a permanent cure and can even have side effects like skin rashes, dark spots etc. The following home remedies, however, can help you get rid of your body odor naturally-

  • Add tomato juice to your bath water and soak yourself in it for 15-20 minutes
  • You can also add a few drops of apple cider vinegar to your bath water to get rid of body odor.
  • Adding essential oils like lavender and sandalwood to your bath water can help in combating body odor.
  • Use rose water spray on you underarms to camouflage your body odor. Rose water is a good alternative to chemical based deodorants since it is natural and side effect free
  • Avoid foods/substances like garlic, cumin, alcohol, caffeine etc as they can all cause body odor

Apart from these home remedies you must also take care of your hygiene, ensure that you take a bath twice a day in summers, wax your underarms regularly and make sure that you wear only freshly washed clothes. However, if the problem persists, do consult a dermatologist.
