Onions for toothache

When having a toothache, and you can't get to the dentist quickly, chew on an onion, leaving it sitting on the aching tooth as long as you can manage it. The longer the better. The onion helps provide good bacteria (what I have been told) which fights the bad bacteria going on, and the pain and swelling should be gone by a few hours... Until you can get to the dentist, repeat this at least once a day. Yes, you may not want to talk to anyone up close (and they may not want to talk to you up close either) but it will help.
