Home Remedies for Sore Throat

A Sore Throat starts with an irritating itch we long to scratch on the back of the throat. A sudden change in weather will herald the onset of cough and colds leading to sore throat. Tonsillitis or an infection affecting the throat can also bring on a sore throat which, if left untreated, can lead to more pain or earache. Oftentimes sore throat is a harmless condition which can be alleviated by sucking on lozenges but it may lead to serious cases especially when there are secondary bacterial infections.

There are also non-infectious causes of sore throat such as smoking, talking loudly and shouting.

To refrain from using antibiotics immediately when one experiences sore throat, there are a handful of home remedies which have been tested and proven to be effective through time.

Solutions for gargling can be made from sage, mango bark extract, basil leaves, salt in lukewarm water, dried chamomile blossoms, and even spice cinnamon which you can easily find in your kitchen cupboard.
