Home remedies for nausea

Nausea is our body’s way of telling us that it’s uncomfortable or that something’s wrong with it. It could be a symptom of illness like fever, heat stroke, indigestion etc, the result of motion sickness or chemical reactions caused in the body during pregnancy, under conditions of extreme stress etc. Whatever the reason maybe, nausea does cause extreme discomfort, the best way to get rid of it therefore is by vomiting, however, if you are unable to throw-up or if nausea persists, you may try any of the following simple home remedies-

  • • Morning sickness related nausea can be cured by consuming a cup of milk with two-three teaspoons of wheat germ at frequent intervals throughout the day,
  • • Consuming grounded cumin seeds can also help in getting rid of nausea.
  • • Sucking on to a sweet candy can help in relieving nausea related to motion sickness
  • • Have lots of water if you are feeling nauseous because of dehydration or indigestion
  • • Coconut water also helps in curing indigestion related nausea by soothing the stomach
  • • If your nausea is related to a migraine attack, a cup of ginger tea may help

Finally, do remember that the best way to get relief from a symptom is to get rid of the disease. However, if your nausea is pregnancy related, then vomiting is probably the most effective cure, but do make sure that you make up for the lost body fluids (through vomiting) by increasing your water intake.
