Home remedies for insomnia

If your life has become a constant battle with insomnia, then the following home remedies can help you catch the ever elusive sleep and trap it into your eyes so that you can get a good night’s rest!

• Add a tablespoon of honey to a glass of warm milk and have it before you go to bed. Sweetened warm milk acts as a tranquilizer and helps in inducing relaxation.
• Lettuce is also believed to be extremely beneficial in treating insomnia. Boil one table spoon of lettuce seeds in a half of liter of water for 7-10 minutes and drink this concoction before going to bed.
• Make your own sleep inducing hair oil by mixing half a cup of bottle gourd juice to half a cup of sesame oil. A relaxing head massage with this oil will help you sleep like a baby.
• Add a few drops of lavender oil to warm water and soak yourself in it for 10 minutes before going to bed. It will help you relax.

Finally, do make sure that you do not eat a spicy or heavy meal for dinner, as it may cause indigestion and interfere with your ability to sleep. Ideally these home remedies should start producing results within a few days, however if you see no improvement in your condition, please consult a doctor.
