Infections like cough and cold in children, though not dangerous, can be a cause of a lot of stress to parents. The following home remedies, however, can help you chase these infections away (from your children)-
- • Give your child ginger tea 3-4 times a day. Ginger has natural healing properties and is particularly useful in treating cough and colds in children.
- • Garlic is also considered to be extremely useful in healing cold and cough. However, it is a well known fact among mothers that feeding garlic to children is not an easy task. The good news is that even the pungent smell of garlic can help in relieving the symptoms of coughs and colds. Tie a few cloves of garlic in a linen cloth and make your child smell it from time to time.
- • Make sure your child stays hydrated as cough and cold tend to make the throat scratchy and parched,
- • A massage with warm coconut or mustard oil (if your child is not allergic to them) before going to bed, will help your child sleep well.
Finally, make sure your child stays away from chocolates, candies and ice-creams etc.
