Home remedies to deal with stress and anxiety

Stress is the mother of many dangerous and life threatening diseases. Whether it’s high blood pressure, heart diseases, depression or insomnia, stress nurtures them all! Therefore the best way to banish these diseases from our lives is to keep stress at bay. The following simple home remedies can help you achieve this goal-

Aroma therapy- Sage and lavender oil are effective stress busters. You can either fill your room with the soothing fragrances of these oils with a help of diffuser, or add a few drops to your bath water.

Ancient India medicine- Basil is considered to be a holy plant in India and is well known for its healing properties all across the region. Chewing two-three basil leaves three times a day is believed to help in combating stress.

Nutrition therapy- Foods rich in nutrients like vitamin A and B, potassium, magnesium and calcium etc can help in combating stress. A lot of people also resort to consuming caffeine, nicotine and alcohol to deal with stress as they provide temporary relief, however in the long run these substances actually lead to more stress.

Finally, do remember that stress is nothing but a state of mind; therefore to combat it effectively one must make conscious efforts to stay calm and composed. Meditation, regular exercise and a balanced diet can help you achieve this goal.
