Natural Care for Hemorrhoids

For those who suffer from hemorrhoids, any tips for the relief of this painful condition is welcome, particularly if the treatment can be done in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Here are a few ways to naturally relieve symptoms at home:

Water (Externally)

Whether soaking in warm water or using cold compresses, water can be incredibly soothing to painful and itchy hemorrhoids. You may want to alternate between warm and cold, or just choose the one that feels better, and treat the area for about 10 minutes several times daily.

Fiber

Eating more fiber will help reduce the risk of constipation, one of the main causes of hemorrhoids. It will also make your bowel movements much easier, which will ease the pain of existing hemorrhoids.

Water (Internally)

Drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated helps to prevent constipation and hard stools, much the same way eating fiber does.

Exercise

If your job requires you to sit for hours on end, make sure you get up and move around every hour or so, which will help prevent and treat hemorrhoids.

When You Gotta Go…

Go. Waiting until a more convenient time to use the bathroom can lead to constipation and hemorrhoids. Pay attention to your urges.
