Magnesium

Canker sores will usually go away on their own in a week or two. But if they are very painful or cause a burning or tingling sensation, treating the sore or sores with Milk of Magnesia can provide some relief.

Using Milk of Magnesia to Treat Canker Sores

Method

  • Use a cotton swab to dab Milk of Magnesia directly on the canker sore.

Why It Works

Milk of Magnesia is very soothing to irritated skin in general. It can also be used to treat sunburn, acne, and insect bites.

Precautions

If your canker sore lasts longer than two weeks, see a doctor to rule out possible infection or cancer. Also, be sure to check with your doctor if the canker sore is accompanied by other symptoms, such as fever, diarrhea, headache, or a skin rash.

Sambucol can be purchased at

Sambucol can be purchased at many health food stores and works very well. I have had cold sores all my life and this is the only thing that has worked. I have tried Lysine, blistex, abreva, and everything on the shelves in stores!

Just take 2 tsp about 2X the first day you feel the tingling in your lip and you won't get the cold sore.
