Ricinus communis

Castor oil comes from the seeds of ricinus communis. The use of these "castor beans" dates back to the ancient Egyptians. The heavy, slow burning oil has been used for industrial purposes as well.

Castor oil remedy for age spots

Method

  • Rub castor oil directly into skin twice daily.

Why remedy works

This remedy is by no means a surefire solution to brown spots on the skin. However, castor oil is able to penetrate deep into the skin; its anti-inflammatory properties and acid content may lighten brown spots.

Precautions

Castor oil is mostly safe but should only be used externally unless otherwise directed. Keep castor oil away from the eyes. You should always monitor skin blemishes and have them checked for melanoma or other cancerous cells.
