Zinc is a metallic element with a wide variety of uses.  An essential mineral in the human diet, it is also used in galvanized steel, deodorant, dandruff shampoo, batteries, and to make brass.  As a metal, it has been used for thousands of years in sculpture and building materials.

Use zinc as a deodorant

Method

  • Mix 2 tsp zinc oxide with 2/3 c witch hazel.
  • Add 2 Tbsp aloe vera and about 30 drops of an essential oil (oils that prevent bacterial growth are ideal, like lavendar or rosemary.)
  • With a spray bottle, apply to underarms daily.

Why It Works

Zinc naturally inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria.

Precautions

Side effects are uncommon, but discontinue use if irritation or rash develop. If you experience a sudden, noticeable change in body odor, consult a doctor as it may be a sign of a more serious condition.
