Please note that I am not a physician and cannot diagnose or treat any medical infection.

My first recommendation is that you look at our page here on GrannyMed.com dedicated to yeast infections. There you can read about various natural remedies including acidophilus (a probiotic), tea tree oil, garlic, sitz baths, and more.

If your condition does not resolve within 5 days or is accompanied by a foul, fishy smell, or you develop pelvic pain or fever, be sure to seek medical attention. Most of the things I will recommend are more appropriate in the prevention of future yeast infections, rather than the treatment of one. Also, if you have bacterial vaginosis, which may present like a yeast infection, antibiotics may be necessary since this condition is a bacterial infection.

One thing that you could use would be boric acid suppostories. You would need a prescription from a doctor or naturopath, and it would have to be compounded at a compounding pharmacy, but vaginal boric acid lowers the pH of the vagina and effecitvely kills yeast.

Other things you can do to support healing and to prevent future infections include avoiding spermicides, eating live-culture yogurt daily, taking a probiotic, and eating a diet low in sugar and gluten to prevent yeast overgrowth.
