I have a painful bump in

I have a painful bump in between my scrotum and my upper thigh - basically my right upper groin area. It is a small bump the size of a pinkie fingernail. I squeezed it and some blood popped out of it, but a small bump still remains.

Is this acne or could it be something else?

Please note that I am not a

Please note that I am not a physician and cannot diagnose or treat any medical condition. My first thought is that there are many possible things this could be - anything from a sexually transmitted disease (STD) to a boil or carbuncle, to an ingrown hair that has become infected. Unfortunately, without seeing exactly what is on your skin, it is really hard to guess what it might be. Some causes are more of an annoyance than anything serious, but it may be appropriate to have the bump lanced, drained, or excised, depending on how large it is or what is causing it. Antibiotic therapy, oral or topical, may even be called for in some cases.

One thing is certain, I would never recommend self-surgery. If the bump is as large as a pinkie fingernail, that is pretty big in my book. Hopefully this sore will resolve on its own, however, if it worsens, if you develop a fever, you notice color changes in the skin around the sore especially in a target pattern, or it becomes extremely painful, these are all signs to seek urgent medical help.

Also, I would recommend that you refrain from picking at the sore or popping it further. If it bleeds or pus is expressed from it this could further spread the sores, especially if it is from a viral or bacterial cause.
