What a great question Wyatt!

What a great question Wyatt! One of my favorite subjects too. The human body is one of the absolute most amazing wonders of the world. Like a well oiled machine only better. You see, even if you change the oil in your automobile and perform all of the scheduled maintenance as suggested it still cannot heal itself. The human body if properly cared for can. Not only do we have the ability to heal, we have the ability to fight off and prevent disease by caring for our body on a daily basis. Amazing stuff right? Read on, the skin in itself is even more amazing.

You see the body produces these little helper cells called T-cells. They remember every infection, flu, virus, or anything that could possibly cause harm to the body and fight it off; preventing it from ever causing harm again. They also will rally together at the first sign of an intrusion to the skin; like a cut or scrape. When they rally together they rush all of the proper fluids to the area of the intrusion and shut it off. They dry it up by causing the blood to clot and join in with the clot to form a protective cover. This allows the break in the barrier of the skin to be sealed off, preventing bacteria and viruses from entering the body or blood stream. A scab is our very own internal band-aid.

It is very important not to disturb a scab. Try not to pick at a scab. When the area heals, the scab will fall off. Wearing a cover over the scab can actually soften it and stop it from doing its job. So if you have a good scab in place, just leave it alone and allow it to do its job. The area will heal with less scar tissue if it is allowed to naturally scab over and heal undisturbed.

Thank you for your question. I enjoyed answering it.

Good Luck to You!
