My first question is how old is the infant? Recommendations and treatments may be different depending on how old the child is and whether he or she is on solid foods yet.

My best recommendation is that you contact your pediatrician for advice on how to handle your particular situation. However, here are a few things to consider:

Diarrhea in babies can be caused by many things. The occasional loose stool is not a problem, but if the stool becomes very watery or aburptly changes in consistency, it may be a sign that something more serious is going on.

Diarrhea could be caused by an infection, food allergies, certain medications, especially oral antibiotics, or excessive intake of fruit juice.

Probably the biggest danger with diarrhea, especially in younger babies, is dehydration. Dehydration due to loss of water as well as electrolyte imbalances and salt loss can occur very rapidly in young children, happening as quickly as 1 to 2 days after the onset of diarrhea. This may be treatable with oral rehydration solutions, but because of the risk, it is best to seek medical attention urgently if any of the following symptoms are present:

1. Your baby is less than 6 months old
2. Presence of a fever higher than 101.4 degrees
Fahrenheit
3. Blood in the stool
4. Black, white, or red stool
5. Presence of vomiting
6. Lethargy
7. Lack of tears when crying, dry mouth, or sunken
in soft spots of head.

He is 5mo. old he has regular

He is 5mo. old he has regular temperature and eating ok but his bottom is raw blistered. It seems like every time he eats and drinks, he passes a watery yellow stool . At first he was drinking a 8oz bottle with 4 scopes of formula & 1tlb of cereal. Now we have added pedelyte for hydration.

If you are concerned, I think

If you are concerned, I think it best to check with your pediatrician. Baby stools can vary in color, including yellow, as well as consistency from applesause to play dough and still be considered normal.

Of prime importance will be ensuring that your baby doesn't get dehydrated as well as treating the diaper rash. Zinc oxide paste can be used to create a barrier between the skin and wet stools and urine and allow the skin to heal.
