ADHD, or Attention Deficit

ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a medical condition present in up to 35% of children in the US. It may be diagnosed after six months of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity behaviors. At times, this condition may require medical intervention.

There are a variety of potential treatments available for ADHD including pharmacological drugs like the controversial Ritalin and Adderall, psychotherapetutic treatments, and various natural methods have also been suggested.

If you are considering using homeopathic remedies, it would be wise to consult a homeopath along with your regular healthcare professional. The reason being that homeopathic remedies are usually very individualized.

There is no one answer to which homeopathic remedy to use. Some say that Stranonium, Cina, and Hyocyamus niger work well, but in truth, there is very little reliable evidence that homeopathy works at all.

There have been individual studies that have demonstrated positive results with homeopathic symptoms, but systematic clinical reviews fail to prove efficacy, and the better designed, higher quality trials show less positive results in general.

Homeopathy is a controversial natural treatment that uses extremely low concentrations of various natural substances diluted down in solution. For instance, the dilutions can be 1:10 up to 1:600 or even smaller. Something diluted 60x is diluted 1 x 10-50 times and you would need to drink 10 billion times the volume of the earth to encounter one active molecule. For this reason, because many homeopathic treatments don’t even contain one pharmaceutically active molecule, these treatments are considered very safe with no side effects.

However, homeopathic remedies may or may not be appropriate as the only treatment for a medical condition like ADHD. If you are interested in this method, be sure to seek expert advice and consult with your regular healthcare professional.
