Initially I have two

Initially I have two thoughts. One is has anything changes - especially in your diet. If you are not getting enough vitamins and nutrients including vitamin E, this can affect the quality of your hair.

Secondly, I am wondering if you are weighing your hair down with excessive coconut oil and aloe vera. Especially for someone who has an oily scalp, you don't need condition every single day. Over-conditioning can weigh down hair and cause it to seem lifeless.

Some other factors to consider:

Try condidioning with Avocado. It contains fatty acids and vitamin E. Mash the fruit and apply to hair. Rinse after 20 minutes.

Mix 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar with 1 quart water and rinse hair.

Avoid heat! Wash hair with cool or lukewarm water, and use cold water for a final rinse. Allow hair to air dry or use the cool setting on your hair dryer. Avoid heated styling tools.

Use a brush with natural bristles to stimulate natural shine.

Avoid hair products containing alcohol which can dry hair out and decrease shine.

Consider applying a small amount of jojoba oil to the hair.

Use lemon balm, rosemary, lavendar, or mint essential oils on the scalp to decrease sebum oil production. Never apply without first diluting these oils and make sure you don't have a contact skin sensitivity them before applying to a large area.

Last, but not least, check out our page here on GrannyMed.com dedicated to shiny hair!
