Arnica Montana. found at

Arnica Montana. found at herbal or health food stores, comes in a gel rub or homeopathic pills is great for scarring, bruising or general muscle hurts. Also, balm of gilead salve has great effect on scarring. Both of these remedies have highly anti-inflamatory properties and they are all natural. Checkout the web for the effects of these two natural remedies. I am just an "Old farm girl" not a doctor, but I have used these remedies on myself and my family for years. We have a lot of farm animals and we raise horses and I use nothing but natural remedies for them also. God intended for us to use plants and minerals for our natural healing. Man kinda messed it up by adding chemicals, not that modern medicine is not great, however, this is where the side effects come from, the chemicals. I pray this is some useful information and the Good Lord bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you and give you peace!!!

Scars result when the body

Scars result when the body tries to heal but can't exactly recreate the original tissue. Usually scar tissue is composed of more connective tissue and fibrous collagen than normal tissues which can lead to discolorations, strictures, keloids, and other disfigurements.

There are some natural things you can do to lessen the appearance of scars, however, you must understand that scar tissue is fundamentally different than normal healthy tissue and therefore the scars may never fully disappear.

First, I'd recommend you check out our page here on GrannyMed.com dedicated to scars where you can read about various natural remedies including onion.

The main strategies in lessening scars include to lighten the scar using a lightening agent and to soften the tissue using mechanical or chemical exfoliation.

There is an over-the-counter product for scars that contains an extract of onion which has been shown to be effective in lessening the appearance of scars. You must apply this cream multiple times a day and and use it consistently for many months for maximum effect.

You can also regularly exfoliate the skin. I'd recommend using lemon juice, diluted with water, mixed with sugar. Use this to gently scrub the area. The lemon will lighten the scar as well as provide hydroxy acids which gently peel the skin. The sugar will mechanically remove dead skin cells and exfoliate.

For especially troublesome scars, it may be necessary for surgical or laser interventions. You can also rely on make up to cosmetically cover scars.
