plain yogurt with active
plain yogurt with active culture. make sure it says active culture on the container. use as you would Monistat. if you don't have an applicator use a 5ml syringe. you can get them from a pharmacy. the pharmacy has them for giving kids liquid medications. just label it "DO NOT EAT" in the frig. but it should clear things up in about 24 to 48 hrs.

It is important to treat both the yeast infection and the bacterial vaginosis (BV) when you are pregnant. The American Pregnancy Association recommends that only topical antifungal and antibacterial creams or vaginal suppositories be used. Oral antifungal medications should be avoided, and only certain antibiotics can be safely used.
One thing I'd like to mention is that all medications and even natural herbal supplements have risks. These must be weighed against the benefit the medication provides. Also, just because a side effect is listed, it does not mean that you will experience it - most adverse effects occur in less than 15% of people who take the drug, and usually people only experience 1 or 2, not all possible.
Another thing to note is that topical application of antifungal and antibacterial drugs decreases the liklihood of adverse systemic reactions. Contact dermatitis reactions are possible, but since the drugs are being used locally and topically, only a very small amount of drug is absorbed into the bloodstream. Vaginal application of such meds is quite safe, even in pregnancy. Those horrible adverse reactions you read about are much more likely to happen if the medication is taken orally.
You can take probiotics or eat live culture yougurt to help boost the "good" bacteria that colonize the vagina, but this is not going to cure the current infection you have. Topical application of live culture yogurt for the treatment of candidiasis has been studied and unfortunately, it performed poorly. In my opinion, using yogurt as your only treatment is inadvisable.
I would recommend that you follow your doctor's instructions. If you are especially concerned, get a second opinion from your gynecologist/obstetrician. This is especially important because you are pregnant. I would not recommend using any remedies listed on this website unless you first consult with your obstetrician due to your condition.
