Dr. Lein My pharmist is trying to recreate the poltice make by Polaris for dental abcess which is no longer available. It contains Hopps, benezecain sassafrass and etc. Do you know the fromula?

The ingredients in the Polaris Dental Poultices include: capsicum, benzocaine, hops, hydroxyquinoline sulfate and sassafras root. Some even older formulations contained belladonna alkaloids. I am not aware of the doseages of each of these ingredients.

This product is no longer commercially available, but you may be able to find a compounding pharmacy that could make it under the direction of a prescription from a doctor. It is possible that the compounding pharmacy would have resources available that would list this formulation and the amount of each ingredient.
