At times I get sores in the side of my head, in my hair. My hair then falls out leaving bald spots. It always grows back but what is the cause of this? My doctor once said stress. Could that be it?

Please note that I am not a physician and cannot diagnose any medical condition. Even if I could, it would be improper to do so without a physical examination and appropriate laboratory testing.

It certainly is possible that hair loss may be a symptom of stress, however, it concerns me that you are experiencing sores on the side of your head. This is not normal, but unfortnately, it is indicative of many possilble pathologies.

It could be that you have a recurring bacterial or viral infection, or even a fungal infection in the hair follicles. It could be that you pull your hair out manually due to stress and the scalp then gets infected. It could be a psychological issue if you are having so much stress and anxiety that it is manifesting physically. Perhaps you have a skin cancer. There is no way for me to know and so it is not appropriate for me to recommend a specific treatment plan without a specific diagnosis.

Please go get this checked out by a licensed healthcare professional. It is not something to ignore and you deserve proper treatment.
