pinworms

What are pinworms?

Pinworms are a type roundworm infection. They are spread by their microscopic eggs which can survive outside of the body and be spread to others. The worms that mature in the intestine and travel to the anal area often produce no symptoms or create only mild digestive problems. But if you're infected with hundreds of worms, more serious symptoms and complications can occur. Children are especially prone to pinworm infection and the resulting itchy bottom.
