Latest Questions About Morning Sickness
What is morning sickness?
Up to 80% of newly pregnant women suffer from pregnancy nausea, more commonly known as "morning sickness," even though it can occur at any time of day. It usually occurs between the 4th to the 6th week and ends around the 14th to the 16th week. The elevated levels of certain hormones (estrogen in particular), affect the entire digestive system causing waves of nausea, vomiting, constipation, and gas. It is not generally harmful to you or your baby but if you experience excessive vomiting and cannot keep your food down, you may have hyperemesis gravidarum, a more severe condition that requires medical attention. For less serious, more typical cases of pregnancy nausea, you might find some relief here in the pages of GrannyMed.com
