Ask a Question
What is phlegm?
Pleghm is mucous from the respiratory system. For much of human history, phlegm was considered one of the four humours (along with black bile, yellow bile, and blood) which needed to be balanced for good health. Hippocrates is believed to have been the first to document the theory of humorism in the 4th century BC; the theory was not officially discredited until the theory of cellular pathology was published in the mid 19th century. Please consult a doctor if you have chronic, excessive phlegm.
