What is high blood pressure?
High blood pressure, a.k.a hypertension, is a measure of blood volume and resistance. It is easy to diagnose with a blood pressure gague but hard to detect on one's own. When high blood develops there are few symptoms until it becomes really pronounced. This is why it is so important to have your blood pressure checked. It's easy to do and can often be done for free at clinics and even at machines located in many pharmacies and drugstores. Donating blood is also a good way to get a free blood pressure check. If you have high blood pressure you need to work with your doctor to keep it under control. But as your doctor will tell you, your lifestyle and diet can have a significant impact on your blood pressure.
