Treating diarrhea has to start with applying basic hygiene norms, like washing your hands and avoiding contaminated food, utensils, and other objects.

It is important to teach children not to put objects in their mouth. It is recommended to wash your hands before and after going bathroom and before meals.

Studies show that yogurt with active cultures reduces diarrhea associated with antibiotics in children who are taking these type of medicines.

It is not recommended to try to stop the diarrhea as soon as it begins, since the diarrhea is the natural way to get rid of the bad food, viruses, or other agents that caused the diarrhea.

The diarrhea that appears suddenly and stops after one or two days is usually caused by an infection or food poisoning. The treatment for this type of diarrhea consists of drinking a lot of liquids. If the patient also has nausea or vomits, he should consume the liquids in small amounts, but frequently.
If the nausea and vomits stop, the patient should consume greater amounts of liquid.

There are certain medicines, given by doctors which can help with the diarrhea and the frequent of the feces evacuating.

When having diarrhea it is important to avoid coffee, milk, and fats. Some food and diets can diminish the frequency that one needs to pass a stool. For example: rice, bananas, yogurt and more. Increasing fiber from wheat and bran also helps with diarrhea.

You might want to try a few natural home remedies for diarrhea if you've been diagnosed with diarrhea.
