What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease in which the body cannot properly manage glucose levels. Glucose levels are normally regulated by the hormone insulin; a diabetic either does not produce insulin, does not produce enough insulin, or does not properly use insulin. The result is that glucose (sugar) builds up in the blood, causing both immediate symptoms and long-term complications. There is no cure for diabetes and home remedies should not be relied upon to manage diabetes. However, foods and herbs that influence blood sugar levels can be an important part of diabetes management.
