What constitutes a minor burn?

By "minor" burn, we mean a first-degree burn, the least serious type of burn. This is defined as an injury in which only the outer layer of skin is burned. The burn site is usually red with minor swelling and pain. Treat a first-degree burn as a minor burn unless it involves large areas on the hands, face, groin, groin, feet, buttocks, or a major joint.
