Uses of Oats and Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a traditional remedy for skin problems of all kinds. It may be best known for its use in baths, to soothe the itching of chicken pox, and for its use in diaper rash ointments, to soothe the irritation and redness of diaper rash. However, oatmeal can also be used on the skin of the face. It is effective for mild cases of acne, reduces redness and irritation, and leaves the skin feeling soft. Oatmeal is soothing and anti-inflammatory. It absorbs excess oil from skin pores, and exfoliates dead skin cells, leaving soft, smooth skin behind.
