A home remedy that works as well as Viagra? It's true.
Even though America has been obsessing over this drug for years, it's not the only drug for Erectile Dysfunction. At twenty dollars a pill, not only is Viagra more expensive but also more risky.
Some of the side-effects of Viagra include headache, indigestion and heart-attack. I remember treating unfortunate elderly patients, embarrassed by their Viagra-triggered heart attacks. Viagra can also cause abnormal vision (try explaining that one to a cop) and abnormal anatomic deformation of the penis.1
Let's take a look at how Viagra works. Nitrous oxide relaxes smooth muscle, which increases blood flow to the penis. The extra blood flow in the penis is what makes and maintains an erection. No nitrous oxide, no erection.
After orgasm, along comes an enzyme call PDE5 that destroys nitrous oxide. Without the nitrous oxide, the erection subsides. Viagra basically blocks PDE5.
The body's main source of nitrous oxide is arginine. Maca Root has a high amount of arginine, together with other minerals such as zinc, vitamin B, and others which help to form and maintain an erection.
Maca, also known as Peruvian ginseng, dated back to the Incas who consumed it before going off to battle. The root helped soldiers with stamina. The Incas did not know that Maca also enhances a man's sex drive—and in a virtuous act of pity for the conquered women, Inca soldiers stopped using Maca.
Later, when the Spanish erected colonies in South America, there were harsh weather conditions and they realized that the cattle were not producing well. They learned of Maca, and decided to try it on their cattle. It worked like magic, and the Spanish went ga-ga over the herb, marketing it as an easy way to increase the size of a flock.
Today, Maca is a known aphrodisiac. Not only was it shown to raise sperm production, sperm mobility and sperm count, it made sex more pleasurable and last longer. Maca is mainly found in Peru, with the Peruvians eating a lot of it. Places with high altitudes usually have low levels of fertility, but areas in Peru that are 4,000 meters above sea level boast high fertility rates. Evidence ties this phenomenon with the Maca root.
Arginine from the Maca root also benefits women. It increases blood flow to the genitalia, making the clitoris and vaginal tissue more reactive. Peruvians also give the root to women who cannot conceive. So whichever side of the bed you sleep on, Maca root is for you.
