Home Remedies for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway that runs through the wrist. It is only about the size of a postage stamp, but it is crowded with many nerves, blood vessels, and nine different tendons. The tendons in the carpal tunnel control finger movement. These tendons in the carpal tunnel are caused to swell by repetitive motions or certain medical conditions. This decreases blood flow and compresses the median nerve, which controls movement and feeling in the thumb, the index and middle fingers, and one side of the ring finger.

The episodes of numbness, tingling, and burning of carpal tunnel syndrome are all caused by this compression. If the situation is left without serious investigation, muscle wasting and permanent damage to the nerve can result.

So what are some home remedies for carpal tunnel syndrome?

Here is a quick list:

  • Alternate hands
  • Ice the wrist
  • Watch how you sleep, to make sure you are not sleeping your wrist?
  • Take a short break during work

These are important and relatively easy home remedies and can save you a lot of money and most important pain.
