Benefits of Hemp Oil

Hemp seeds.jpg

Hemp oil is a cold-pressed oil obtained from the seeds of the hemp (cannabis, or marijuana) plant. Pure hemp oil contains no THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana, and is generally pressed from varieties of hemp that contain little to no THC.

Hemp oil has many benefits, including its ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids that is identical to that required by the human body, which is considered helpful in the prevention of heart disease and other health problems. It is more commonly used as an alternative medical treatment for many internal and external conditions, and as a health supplement.

Some benefits of hemp oil include the use as an effective treatment for eczema and other skin conditions, and as a general moisturizer to improve the condition of skin, nails, and hair.

It is also used to help prevent allergies, to aid the immune system in fighting off infection, to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol, and as an anti-inflammatory agent to treat the pain and swelling associated with arthritis.

The ancient Chinese used hemp oil to treat malaria, infertility, and menstrual problems, and in fact, it is still used to aid women with severe premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms.

While some tout hemp oil as the next cure for cancer, there has yet to be sufficient research to determine its efficacy.
